First Contact Physiotherapist

As part of the 2018 General Medical Services Contract (Scotland) to provide additional professional services to GP practices, we are delighted to welcome Sarah, our First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP) to the team. Sarah will be in the practice on Wednesdays and her role is to see patients complaining of muscle, bone or joint problems. This service is to direct patients who otherwise would have made a GP appointment, to the most appropriate person for their problem.

The FCP will be working independently within the practice to assess, diagnose and plan the management of patients with the above problems. She can organise any investigations and refer you on for further treatment if required.

The physiotherapist cannot see patients under 16 years of age, pregnant women or where the problem is suspected to be caused by infection.

When phoning for appointments, our highly trained receptionist will ask you some questions regarding your problem, in order to direct you to the most appropriate person. It would be helpful if you would share this information with them. You do not have to do this, however it may cause you a delay if you choose not to. Members of the admin team are bound by the same confidentiality rules that cover clinical staff.

We thank you for your cooperation.
