Dr Simon McCann (m)

MB,ChB,DCCH (Qualified Edinburgh 1985, MRCGP Examination passed 1989) Dr. McCann lives in Duns with his wife, a nursing sister, and family. He has been a full-time GP here for 26 years, and has a particular interest in family and preventative medicine, heart disease, children’s and men’s health. He also performs minor operations in the practice such as cortisone joint injections and removal of small skin lesions under local anaesthetic. He has overall responsibility for prescribing issues within the practice and ensures that this is done safely and effectively according to current guidelines. In his spare time he swims, plays tennis and plays flute in several orchestras and groups in the Borders including Duns Operatic Society.

Dr Petrina Moralee (f)

MA, BM,BCh, MRCGP, DRCOG, DCH (Qualified Oxford 1986) Dr. Moralee is one of two female GPs in the practice, and has more than 20 years’ experience in general practice. She and her husband, a surgeon at Borders General Hospital, have lived in the Borders since 2000. Her interests are women’s and children’s health, diabetes and general medicine. She has overall responsibility for the care of our many diabetic patients, and co-ordinates the management of patients with chronic diseases such as stroke, asthma and high blood pressure to ensure the highest standards of modern care. She is keen on keeping fit, likes to ski, and also a musician who plays flute and piano. 

Dr Fiona Megahy (f)

MB, ChB, MFSEM(UK) Qualified Glasgow 1988, has over 20 years experience working as a GP in the Borders. She became a formal partner of Duns Medical Group in May 2016 after many years working as a regular locum in the practice. She has recently completed 6 months working as a GP in New Zealand, experiencing how medicine works on the other side of the world. She has a particular interest and qualification in Sports and Exercise Medicine and in her spare time provides medical cover to Gala Rugby Club.
